In a joint meeting last month, the Noida and Greater Noida Authority have sanctioned two new metro projects. According to the Noida and Greater Noida Chairperson Rama Raman, the first metro project will sweep 15 km from Noida sector 71 to Knowledge Park 5 and the second one will extend 11 km from the Okhla Bird Sanctuary to Noida sector 142.
The first metro corridor, after starting from Noida sector 71 will pass through Gaur Sons intersection and will touch Greater Noida West in Noida sector 4. The course will further advance to Ecotech 12, Sector 2, 3, 10 and 12 and will commence at Knowledge Park 5.
While the latter one from the Okhla Bird Sanctuary to Noida sector 142 will comprise of seven metro stations, connecting sectors along the Noida Greater Noida Expressway.
Raman said the projects are estimated to cost Rs. 6,710 crores. The chairperson also added that once the projects receive the approval of the state government and after signing the MoU, the construction will kick start.
The new metro arms is set to bring Noida and Greater Noida closer to the capital city Delhi and is likely to benefit for over 15 lakh inhabitants.
Meanwhile, Noida Authority has allotted 210 acre land to Taiwan Industrial Association (TIMA) for electronic manufacturing cluster.
The authority has also validated a hike of Rs 600 in land compensation for direct purchase of flood zone along the Yamuna and Hindon River in Noida. The prior rate was Rs 2,905 per square metre. As farmers were unwilling to sell land at this rate, Noida Authority has revised it to Rs 3,500 per square metre.
The Chairperson also said they have reduced the e-tendering limit from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, in order to get transparency in the tendering process.
