The detailed project reports of two crucial metro lines planned under Noida – Greater Noida metro expansion has been decided to be revised by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). The 11 km corridor, starting from Amity to Noida Sector 142 and a 15 km stretch from Sector 71 to KP-5 in Greater Noida has been reconsidered when the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) decided to tweak the norms for providing financial assistance for infrastructure projects.
The ministry used to provide 20 percent of the total coast for a metro project as loan. But they have twisted the norms and Centre now takes 20 percent of equity in the project, which in turn makes them the partner in ownership. This according to Santhosh Yadav, MD, NMRC, was the reason for revising the detailed project reports of the two planned metro corridors. The revised report will be later send to the ministry for necessary approvals.
