Soon, the commutation will be smoothened in the intoxicating commercial and residential hub, Gurgaon. HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority) will soon endeavor a project to widen the Golf Course Extension Road by three metres on either side. This is likely to ease the to and fro commutation in the 16 lane expressway, for which the construction works are progressing.
The widening works will be undertaken in the 6.7 km stretch between Ghata and Badshapur Chowk of Golf Course Extension Road. According to a senior official, the road is currently 9.7 metre wide with three lanes on either side. The Engineers has mastered out a plan which will widen the road by three meters on either side, totaling it 12.7 metres wide on each side. The widening will essentially add an extra lane on each side, making it four lanes.
Speaking to media, HUDA Administrator Anita Yadav said that the estimate will be soon sent for the approval of government. She also said already the maintenance and repair work has been progressing and an additional estimate of Rs 35 crore has been prepared for widening the Golf Course Extension Road. According to her the road needs to be widened so as to counter an expected rush in traffic in future.
By the end of next year, the widening works of expressway to 16 lanes is expected to be completed. By the time the footfall will increase in the Golf Course Extension Road, note that over three dozen residential colonies inhabit along the either sides of the road.
The stretch will bear commuters from NH-8 through Golf Course Road and is supposed to meet NH-8 again at Kherki Daula. However, this work is yet to take off owing to land litigation involving residents of Fazilpur Village. They have to be relocated by HUDA as they fall in lines of the Southern Peripheral Road. The administrator also said that the works are progressing to deliver alternative plots for these residents.
