Commuters frequenting the all important Master Plan-3 road at the Sector 35 and Noida City Centre crossroads might have to wait for another month or so for the much needed respite from traffic congestion in the region. The game changing underpass, which is still under construction at the crossing, is stated to take approximately a month more for completion.
The vibrant Noida Authority had previously set a reasonable deadline of April 1 2015 for the inauguration of the whopping Rs 50 crore underpass project. But, as per reliable sources, the project is highly unlikely to be completed before April-end, and might open its gate for traffic from May 1 2015.
The highly anticipated underpass project is in its very last phase of construction. The all weather structure of the underpass is almost ready and the process of laying bitumen on the roads is in full swing. The visual beautification of the structure is also being done.
Mr. Sharma, who is helming the project, elaborated that this is the all important 3rd phase of the project and they have lost out on a precious few days because of the unfavourable weather conditions. The authority is therefore leaving no stone’s unturned in order to complete the work by the new April 30 deadline. The plan as of this moment is to open the underpass from May 1 for traffic. Weekly detailed review of the progress made in the underpass is being thoroughly conducted in order to keep the already delayed project moving as per the schedule.
In order to make the movement of traffic smoother, a much needed route diversion that was in force for close to a year at the crucial crossing, was partially opened for traffic in February last month. The move has extended some much needed respite to Lakhs of commuters who frequent the stretch on a daily basis.
Motorists commuting from NH-24 Greater Noida (West) and Ghaziabad from now on can travel via Sector 71 towards Noida, Faridabad and Delhi. The crucial carriageway from Sector 32 Noida towards Sector 71 Noida has also been completely opened for immediate use.
Once the underpass is ready and operational, it is expected to significantly reduce the travel time between Greater Noida (West) and south Delhi. The highly unique underpass has been strategically designed keeping in mind the projected spike in population of Noida due to the recently developed state of the art sectors on Greater Noida’s western side.
According to highly reliable traffic officials, approximately 20,000 to 25,000 motor vehicles utilize the route every single day and almost a staggering 1.5 Lakh vehicles, inclusive of heavy vehicles, use the stretch on a daily basis. This is undoubtedly one of the busiest streets in the city of Noida witnessing critically high volume of traffic.
